Wave of Change Launches New Campaign at Xrobb l-Għaġin

Ripples of Change: Wave of Change Campaign Kicks Off at Xrobb l-Għaġin

Imagine standing at the edge of Xrobb l-Għaġin, the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. Now, picture a wave of people gathering there, not just to watch the sunset, but to make a difference. This Saturday, that’s exactly what’s happening as the Wave of Change campaign launches its latest initiative.

What’s the Wave of Change Campaign About?

The Wave of Change is a local grassroots movement dedicated to cleaning up Malta’s beaches and raising awareness about marine conservation. Since its inception last year, it has seen thousands of volunteers turn out to collect litter, educate the public, and advocate for policy changes. This Saturday’s event at Xrobb l-Għaġin is set to be their biggest yet.

Xrobb l-Għaġin: More Than Just a Beach

Xrobb l-Għaġin, located in the limits of Żurrieq, is more than just a beach. It’s a symbol of Malta’s natural beauty, a haven for wildlife, and a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. However, it’s also a victim of littering, with plastic waste and other debris often washing up on its shores. The Wave of Change campaign aims to turn the tide on this issue.

“Xrobb l-Għaġin is a gem that we’re in danger of losing if we don’t act,” says campaign coordinator, Maria Grech. “We want to show people that they can make a difference, one beach at a time.”

What to Expect on Saturday

On Saturday, volunteers will gather at Xrobb l-Għaġin at 4 PM. They’ll spend the afternoon collecting litter, with the help of equipment provided by the campaign. But it’s not all work and no play. There will also be educational talks, games for kids, and a barbecue to socialize and refuel.

“We want to make sure everyone has a great time while doing something meaningful,” says Grech. “It’s not just about cleaning the beach, it’s about building a community that cares about our environment.”

After the beach clean-up, the group will head to the nearby Tal-Poż Restaurant for a well-deserved meal and to discuss future plans.

So, if you’re passionate about keeping Malta’s beaches clean and want to be part of a wave of change, join the Wave of Change campaign this Saturday at Xrobb l-Għaġin. Together, we can make a difference, one beach at a time.
