Experience Malta from Above: Skydiving Now a Reality
Malta’s Newest Attraction: Skydiving Over the Mediterranean
Imagine freefalling from 15,000 feet, the Maltese Islands sprawling beneath you like a postcard, and the Mediterranean Sea shimmering in the distance. This is not a dream, but a reality for thrill-seekers thanks to Malta’s newest attraction: skydiving. So, are you ready to take the leap?
Malta’s First Skydiving Centre
Tucked away in the picturesque village of Żurrieq, on the outskirts of Malta’s southern region, lies the island’s first and only skydiving centre. Established in 2021, Skydive Malta has been making waves in the local adventure scene, offering tandem jumps, solo courses, and even indoor skydiving experiences.
“We wanted to bring something new and exciting to Malta,” says Mark, the centre’s manager. “Skydiving is about more than just the adrenaline rush. It’s about freedom, about seeing the world from a different perspective.”
What to Expect: A Step-by-Step Guide
First-timers need not worry. Skydive Malta caters to all levels, from beginners to experienced jumpers. Here’s what you can expect on your first tandem jump:
- Arrival and Preparation: Arrive at the centre, sign some paperwork, and get geared up. Your instructor will brief you on the jump and answer any questions you might have.
- The Flight Up: Board a small aircraft, which will take you up to altitude. Enjoy the views of Malta from above as you ascend.
- The Jump: At 15,000 feet, it’s time to take the leap. With your instructor attached, you’ll exit the aircraft and freefall at speeds up to 200km/h. The initial rush is indescribable, but the views are incredible.
- The Canopy Ride: After around 60 seconds of freefall, your instructor will deploy the parachute. You’ll then enjoy a peaceful canopy ride, taking in the sights of Malta from above before landing safely back at the drop zone.
Why Skydive Malta?
Malta’s unique geography and climate make it an ideal location for skydiving. With its mild winters and clear skies, the islands offer perfect conditions for year-round jumping. Plus, with drop zones located just off the coast, jumpers are treated to stunning views of the Mediterranean and the Maltese Islands.
“There’s no feeling quite like flying over the Maltese coastline,” says Lisa, a regular jumper at Skydive Malta. “It’s like having the whole island at your feet.”
Ready to Take the Leap?
So, are you ready to experience the sky within reach? Whether you’re a local looking for a new adventure or a tourist seeking an unforgettable experience, skydiving in Malta is not to be missed.
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” says Mark. “Come and experience the freedom of flight with us.”
