It’s that time again, Malta. The political machinery is in full swing, and the race for District 7 is heating up. But who are these candidates vying for your vote? Let’s take a closer look at the individuals who could be representing you in Parliament.

Meet the Candidates

In no particular order, let’s meet the candidates standing in District 7.

1. Dr. Robert Abela – Labour Party

Dr. Abela, a constitutional lawyer, is no stranger to politics. He’s been a member of Parliament since 2017 and is currently the Speaker. He’s known for his calm demeanor and legal expertise. His campaign promises include improving healthcare, education, and housing. You might spot him campaigning around Msida, where he’s a familiar face.

2. Dr. Alex Muscat – Nationalist Party

Dr. Muscat, a medical doctor, is making his political debut. He’s promising to bring a fresh perspective to Parliament. His priorities include healthcare reform, environmental sustainability, and supporting local businesses. You might see him around Birkirkara, where he’s been actively campaigning.

3. Dr. Arnold Cassola – Alternattiva Demokratika

4. Mr. Mario Debono – Progressive Party

We caught up with a few voters to get their thoughts on the candidates.

“I appreciate Dr. Abela’s experience and calm approach,” said Maria, a voter from Msida. “But I’m also drawn to Dr. Muscat’s fresh perspective,” she added.

“I’ve always voted for Alternattiva Demokratika,” said Joe, a Rabat resident. “Dr. Cassola’s commitment to the environment is something I really admire,” he said.

“I think Mr. Debono’s business background could bring a new dynamic to Parliament,” said Lisa, an Ħamrun voter. “I’m interested in what he has to say about job creation,” she added.
