Naxxar’s Dawn Dilemma: Council Denies Approval for Pre-Dawn Construction

Silence at Dawn: Naxxar’s Puzzle Over Pre-Dawn Construction

In the quiet, pre-dawn hours of a typical Maltese morning, the hum of machinery echoed through the usually peaceful streets of Naxxar. Residents, startled from their sleep, looked out to see a construction site buzzing with activity at an ungodly hour. But was this work approved by the local council? The answer, it seems, is a resounding no.

Unsolicited Construction: A Surprise for Naxxar

The construction in question is taking place at the site of a recent collapse on Triq San Pawl in Naxxar. The building, once a proud part of the local skyline, now lies in ruins, a stark reminder of the island’s ongoing struggle with dilapidated infrastructure. The council, however, maintains that it never gave the green light for work to commence, let alone at such an early hour.

“We were as surprised as the residents when we heard about the pre-dawn construction,” said Naxxar’s mayor, Doris Abela. “We have not approved any works at this site, especially not at such an ungodly hour. We are looking into this matter urgently.”

Residents: Confused, Angry, and Concerned

Residents of Naxxar are baffled by the situation. Many have taken to social media to express their confusion and anger, with some questioning the legality of the work and others expressing concern about the noise pollution.

“I’ve lived here all my life, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Joe, a long-time Naxxar resident. “I understand that the building needs to be fixed, but this is ridiculous. We need answers, and we need them now.”

Another resident, Maria, echoed Joe’s sentiments. “I have young children, and the noise is disrupting their sleep. We deserve to know why this is happening and who is responsible.”

Council: Promising Answers and Action

The Naxxar Local Council has promised to get to the bottom of the issue. They have already started investigations and have reached out to the relevant authorities, including the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) and the police.

“We understand the frustration of our residents,” said Mayor Abela. “We are doing everything in our power to find out who is responsible for this and to put an end to it. We will keep our community updated as we progress.”

In the meantime, the council has reminded residents that they can contact them directly with any concerns or questions. They have also encouraged residents to report any suspicious or illegal activities to the police.
