Motorcyclist Injured in Regional Road Crash: What We Know So Far
Emergency services rushed to the Regional Road in Msida yesterday afternoon following a collision involving a motorcycle and a car. The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital with suspected serious injuries.
What Happened?
The incident occurred around 3:30 PM near the junction with Triq San Giljan. Witnesses reported seeing a red Yamaha motorcycle collide with a silver Ford Fiesta, sending the biker tumbling onto the road. The car, driven by a 45-year-old woman, came to a halt on the side of the road.
Police and an ambulance from the Malta Civil Protection Department arrived shortly after, closing off the road while they tended to the injured motorcyclist. The man was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital, but his condition is understood to be serious.
Traffic Chaos and Delays
The collision caused significant traffic chaos in the area, with long tailbacks stretching back towards the Msida roundabout. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while emergency services worked to clear the scene.
Bus services operated by Malta Public Transport were also affected, with several routes experiencing delays and diversions. Passengers were advised to check with their operator for updates on their services.
