Motorcyclist Injured in Regional Road Crash: What We Know So Far
Emergency services rushed to the Regional Road in Msida today after a motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car. The incident, which occurred near the Msida Bastion Road junction, caused traffic chaos during the busy afternoon rush hour.
The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man from Birkirkara, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital with suspected broken ribs and a head injury. His condition is described as stable. No arrests have been made yet, and police investigations are ongoing.
Witness Accounts and Traffic Disruptions
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the motorcycle, a red Suzuki GSX-R750, skid across the road and crash into a nearby wall. The car, a silver Toyota Corolla, sustained minor damage and was driven away from the scene.
Traffic was heavily disrupted, with long queues stretching back towards the Msida roundabout and all the way to the Triq il-Kbira junction. Commuters were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
Malta Public Transport announced delays on several bus routes, including the 41, 42, and 49, due to the incident.
Road Safety Concerns and Local Reactions
This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Malta, with many residents taking to social media to express their frustration. “It’s high time we do something about these reckless drivers,” commented one resident on our Facebook page.
Local councillor, Joseph Muscat, told Hot Malta, “We need to look into making our roads safer. This is not the first incident in this area, and it’s high time we address these issues.”
