Motorcyclist Hurt in Msida Crash

Motorcyclist Injured in Regional Road Crash: What We Know So Far

Emergency services rushed to the Regional Road in Msida this morning after a motorcyclist collided with a car, leaving the rider with serious injuries. The incident, which occurred near the Msida Bastion Historic Garden, has caused traffic delays and raised concerns about road safety in the area.

What Happened?

The collision took place around 8:30 AM today, involving a motorcycle and a car. The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man from Msida, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car, a 42-year-old woman from Birkirkara, was unharmed. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Traffic Delays and Diversions

The crash has caused significant traffic delays in the Msida area, with the Regional Road partially blocked while emergency services attended to the incident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays if traveling through Msida. Diversions are in place, with traffic being redirected via Triq San Pawl and Triq il-Kunsill.

Concerns Over Road Safety

This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Malta, particularly on the busy Regional Road. Local residents and road safety advocates have been calling for improved road infrastructure and stricter enforcement of traffic laws. Just last month, a petition was launched calling for a reduction in the speed limit on the Regional Road to 40 km/h.

Hot Malta reached out to the Malta Road Safety Council for comment. A spokesperson said, “We urge all road users to exercise caution and respect for each other. We need to work together to make our roads safer for everyone.”

This is a developing story. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
