Alkagesta’s New Power Player: Anthony Guida
Alkagesta’s New Power Player: Anthony Guida at the Helm of Biofuels Trading Desk
In the heart of Malta’s bustling Msida, where the Mediterranean Sea laps gently against the shore, a significant shift is taking place within the local energy sector. Alkagesta, a leading player in the island’s biofuel industry, has promoted Anthony Guida to head its Biofuels Trading Desk. This move, while quiet, is set to make waves in Malta’s energy scene.
From the Ground Up: Anthony Guida’s Journey
Guida’s rise to this pivotal role is no overnight success story. Born and bred in the sunny town of Żebbuġ, he’s a testament to Malta’s potential for nurturing talent. After graduating from the University of Malta with a degree in Energy and Sustainability, Guida joined Alkagesta as a junior trader. Over a decade later, his deep understanding of the local energy market and commitment to sustainable practices have earned him this well-deserved promotion.
“I’ve seen Malta’s energy scene evolve over the years,” Guida reflects, “and I’m excited to play a more significant role in shaping its future.”
Driving Malta’s Biofuel Revolution
Guida takes the reins at a critical juncture. Malta, with its ambitious plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, is increasingly turning to biofuels. As the new head of Alkagesta’s Biofuels Trading Desk, Guida will be instrumental in securing and trading these clean energy sources, from biodiesel to biogas.
His desk will be instrumental in facilitating the transition to cleaner fuels, not just for Malta, but for the entire Mediterranean region. “We’re not just trading biofuels,” Guida explains, “we’re facilitating a shift towards a more sustainable future.”
Guida’s first task? Strengthening Alkagesta’s relationships with local biofuel producers and international suppliers. “We need to ensure a steady, reliable supply of biofuels to meet Malta’s growing demand,” he says, “and that means building strong, lasting partnerships.”
He also plans to expand Alkagesta’s trading portfolio to include more advanced biofuels, like those derived from algae or waste. “These are the fuels of the future,” Guida believes, “and Malta should be at the forefront of their adoption.”
