Bonnie Tyler’s Maltese Fans Rejoice as Singer Wakes from Coma
Malta’s music lovers are celebrating today as news broke that Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has come out of a coma. The 71-year-old rock legend, known for her powerful vocals and iconic hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, had been in a medically induced coma since a fall in her Valletta apartment last month.
Local Fans Rally Around Tyler
Tyler, who has been a regular visitor to Malta, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital after the fall. Since then, local fans have been rallying around her, with many leaving get-well messages outside her Strait Street apartment. “We’ve been playing her music outside her door every day,” said local resident Joe Borg. “We want her to know we’re thinking of her and can’t wait to have her back singing for us.”
Tyler’s Love for Malta
Tyler has been a frequent visitor to Malta, often seen enjoying local cuisine at restaurants like Ta’ Karolina in Rabat or taking in the sunset at the Three Cities. She even performed at the Isle of MTV Malta in 2013, wowing the crowd with her signature belting vocals. “Malta has a special place in my heart,” Tyler once said in an interview. “The people, the food, the history – it’s all so vibrant and alive.”
Doctors at Mater Dei have confirmed that Tyler is now awake and responsive, although she remains under observation. Her manager, John Stainton, expressed his gratitude to the Maltese public for their support. “The outpouring of love and support from Bonnie’s Maltese fans has been incredible. It’s clear she’s touched many lives here, and we’re grateful for every message and prayer.”
