Bonnie Tyler Wows Malta in Virtual Concert

Imagine this: a quiet morning in the bustling streets of Valletta, Malta’s capital city, and suddenly, the unmistakable voice of Bonnie Tyler echoes through the Grandmaster’s Palace Square. No, it’s not a dream or a time warp, but a testament to the power of community and technology that brought the Welsh singer out of her musical hiatus, right into our little Mediterranean island.

Bonnie Tyler’s Maltese Connection

Malta’s connection to Bonnie Tyler might seem as unexpected as a sudden rainstorm in our sunny island. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll find that Malta’s love for music knows no boundaries. Tyler’s Maltese connection is none other than our very own Joe Roscoe, a local music producer who has worked with international artists like Tina Turner and Elton John. Roscoe, who runs the recording studio Soundcheck Studios in Msida, reached out to Tyler with a unique proposal.

From Coma to Concert

Tyler, who had been relatively quiet on the music scene, was recovering from a serious illness that left her in a coma. Roscoe’s proposal? A virtual concert from Tyler’s home in Wales, beamed live onto the big screen at the iconic Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta. Tyler, touched by the idea, agreed. And so, on a balmy Maltese evening, Tyler’s voice filled the air, as locals and tourists alike enjoyed a unique, COVID-safe concert experience.

But that’s not all. Tyler, in true Maltese spirit, decided to give back to the community. She donated a portion of the concert’s proceeds to Right to Education, a local charity that provides educational support to underprivileged children. Tyler’s manager, Geoff Deane, praised Malta’s resilience and community spirit, saying, “Malta’s response to the pandemic has been inspiring, and we’re glad Bonnie could be a part of it, even from afar.”

Bonnie Tyler’s Malta Moment

Tyler’s Malta moment has sparked a wave of excitement and pride among locals. From the streets of Rabat to the Three Cities, Tyler’s voice has become a symbol of hope and resilience. Her story has also put Malta on the global music map, attracting attention from international artists and music lovers alike.

As for Tyler, she’s looking forward to a full recovery and hopefully, a real-life performance in Malta. “Malta’s love and support have been overwhelming,” she says. “I can’t wait to come and perform there in person, maybe even sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ under the Maltese sun.”
