Heroin Haul: Man Arrested After €13,000 Worth of Drugs Found in Ħamrun
In a quiet residential street off Triq San Pawl in Ħamrun, a routine police patrol turned into a major drug bust yesterday. Officers from the Drug Unit arrested a 32-year-old man after discovering heroin with an estimated street value of €13,000 in his possession.
Stash of Heroin Seized
The arrest took place around 11:30 AM when police stopped and searched the suspect. They found 130 grams of heroin, ready for distribution. The drugs were found in small packages, each stamped with a distinctive logo, indicating they were part of a larger operation.
Investigations Ongoing
Superintendent of the Drug Unit, Mario Mifsud, confirmed the arrest and seizure. “This is a significant amount of heroin taken off the streets of Ħamrun and Malta. Our investigations are ongoing to determine the source of these drugs and any potential links to other criminal activities.”
Neighbors in the quiet Ħamrun street were shocked by the news. “You never expect something like this to happen here,” said one resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “I hope they catch everyone involved. Our streets should be safe for our children.”
The arrested man is being held in custody pending further investigations. The seized heroin will be analyzed by forensic experts to determine its purity and any potential links to other drug busts in Malta.
