Heroin Haul: Man Arrested After €13,000 Stash Found in Msida

In a quiet alley off Triq il-Kbira in Msida, police made a startling discovery this week. Hidden away in a nondescript bag, they found enough heroin to make headlines and send shockwaves through the local community.

€13,000 Worth of Heroin Seized

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Drug Squad swooped in on Tuesday, recovering a substantial quantity of heroin with an estimated street value of €13,000. The drugs, weighing in at just over a kilogram, were carefully packaged and ready for distribution.

Man Arrested and Charged

The operation led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man from Msida. He was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled drug and trafficking. Police sources indicate that the suspect is known to them and has previous convictions for drug-related offenses.

In a press statement, the Police Commissioner emphasized the importance of community involvement in such cases. “We rely on the public’s eyes and ears. Tips like this one help us disrupt drug trafficking and make our communities safer,” he said.

The arrest comes as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Malta. In recent months, police have seized large quantities of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, and cannabis, sending a clear message to dealers and users alike.
