Malta’s Mailbag: Traffic, Festas & Nostalgia

Mailbag Monday: June 19, 2026

Welcome to another edition of ‘Letters to the Editor’, where we give voice to the people of Malta. This week, we’re delving into a mix of local issues, cultural events, and even a touch of nostalgia. So, grab a cuppa and let’s dive in.

Traffic Woes in Msida

Our first letter comes from long-time Msida resident, Joseph Camilleri, who’s had enough of the traffic congestion around the University of Malta. “I’ve lived here for decades,” he writes, “but the traffic has never been this bad. Something needs to be done about the parking situation and the lack of public transport options.”

We’ve reached out to the relevant authorities, and we’ll keep you updated on any developments.

Festivals Galore

Summer’s in full swing, and so are the festivals! Maria Grech from Żurrieq is excited about the upcoming Żurrieq Festa but has a concern. “I love the festas,” she says, “but the noise can be quite a nuisance. Any tips on how to enjoy the festas without losing sleep?”

We’ve got some tips lined up for Maria and all our readers. Stay tuned!

Nostalgia in Paceville

Lastly, a letter from Anthony Borg, reminiscing about the old days in Paceville. “I remember when Paceville was all about the music and the community. Now, it’s just another party hub. Any plans to bring back some of that old Paceville charm?”

We’ve got our ears to the ground and will keep you posted on any initiatives aimed at reviving Paceville’s musical heritage.
