65 New AFM Recruits Graduate in Style at Passing Out Parade

Under a clear blue Maltese sky, 65 new recruits of the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) marched proudly at the Passing Out Parade held today at the AFM’s Hal Far Barracks. The ceremony marked the culmination of their rigorous 22-week basic training, transforming them into fully-fledged members of Malta’s defence force.

From Civilians to Soldiers: A Journey of Transformation

These recruits, hailing from various walks of life and corners of Malta, began their journey in September 2021. They’ve traded their civilian clothes for military uniforms, swapped office chairs for parade grounds, and embraced the discipline and camaraderie that define military life. The transformation was evident in their confident march and smart salute during the parade.

Local Pride and Support

The parade was attended by numerous family members and friends who cheered on the new recruits. Among them was Mr. Joseph Azzopardi, a proud father from Ħamrun, who told Hot Malta, “I’m overwhelmed with joy seeing my son graduate. It’s not easy, but he’s proven that he has what it takes to serve our country.”

Local dignitaries also graced the occasion, including the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Dr. José Herrera, who praised the recruits’ dedication and commitment.

The new recruits will now proceed to specialist training, where they will acquire skills in various military disciplines. They will also have the opportunity to serve on international peacekeeping missions, further enhancing Malta’s reputation on the global stage.

As they embark on this new chapter, Hot Malta wishes the 65 AFM recruits all the best in their military careers. We look forward to seeing their contributions to Malta’s defence and security.
