Skills Gap: The Race Against Time

Picture this: Malta’s bustling Msida Creek, where traditional dghajsas and modern yachts coexist. Now, imagine half of those boats suddenly adrift, their crews lacking the skills to navigate. This isn’t a dystopian scene, but a glimpse into our future if we don’t address the skills gap today.

Malta’s Skills Mismatch: A Local Perspective

Malta’s thriving economy, bolstered by sectors like iGaming, tech, and finance, is a magnet for jobs. Yet, local and international companies grapple with a skills shortage. Take data analysis. Malta’s burgeoning tech scene needs data-savvy professionals. Yet, a 2021 survey by the Malta Information Technology Agency found that only 14% of Maltese students study STEM subjects at university. We’re not producing enough data analysts to meet demand.
