Father Mark Attard Celebrates 25 Years of Priesthood at Ta’ Pinu
Silver Jubilee: Father Mark Attard Marks Quarter Century of Priesthood at Ta’ Pinu
Standing in the heart of the Maltese countryside, the Ta’ Pinu sanctuary has been a beacon of faith and devotion for centuries. Today, it’s also home to a significant milestone – the silver jubilee of Father Mark Attard’s priesthood. A quarter of a century ago, on the feast of the Assumption, Father Mark was ordained, and his journey has been intertwined with the spiritual life of Malta ever since.
From the Seminary to Ta’ Pinu
Father Mark’s path to the priesthood began at the seminary in Rabat, where he spent six years studying theology and philosophy. After his ordination in 1996, he served in various parishes around Malta, including St. Paul’s in Rabat and St. Joseph’s in Sliema. But it was in 2005 that he found himself called to Ta’ Pinu, a sanctuary that holds a special place in the hearts of Maltese Catholics.
Ta’ Pinu, nestled in the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo, is more than just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the power of faith and the resilience of the Maltese spirit. The sanctuary was built in the late 19th century following a series of miraculous events, and it has since become a symbol of hope and devotion. Father Mark’s role here has been instrumental in keeping that spirit alive.
A Quarter Century of Service
Over the past 25 years, Father Mark has been a constant presence at Ta’ Pinu, guiding pilgrims, celebrating Mass, and administering the sacraments. He’s seen the sanctuary evolve, from the restoration of its façade to the installation of new facilities. But what hasn’t changed is the sanctuary’s role as a spiritual haven, and Father Mark’s commitment to serving those who seek solace within its walls.
Father Mark’s silver jubilee is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the enduring spirit of Ta’ Pinu and the faith it represents. It’s a reminder that, even in the face of change, some things remain constant – like the beacon of hope that shines from the heart of Għarb.
