Marvic Monreal Returns Home for Opera Magic in Valletta

Homecoming Hero: Marvic Monreal Brings Opera Magic to Valletta

Malta’s own Marvic Monreal is set to captivate local audiences this weekend, as she returns home to star in ‘Opera in the Capital’. The internationally acclaimed soprano, who honed her craft at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, will grace the stage of the historic Manoel Theatre in Valletta.

From St. Julian’s to the World Stage

Born and raised in the bustling town of St. Julian’s, Marvic’s love for music was nurtured from a young age. Her journey began at the Malta School of Music, where she first discovered her operatic voice. From there, she went on to study at the University of Malta and later, the Royal Academy of Music in London. Today, she’s a seasoned performer who has graced some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses.

“It’s always a thrill to perform at home,” Marvic says, her voice bubbling with excitement. “Malta might be small, but it’s packed with passion and talent. I can’t wait to share the stage with my fellow Maltese artists and bring some world-class opera to our capital.”

Opera in the Capital: A Night to Remember

Presented by Teatru Manoel, ‘Opera in the Capital’ promises a night of enchanting music and powerful performances. Marvic will be joined by a stellar cast, including Maltese tenor Joseph Zammit and baritone Ivan Monteiro. The programme includes arias and duets from some of opera’s most beloved works, such as La Traviata, La Bohème, and Carmen.

“We’re thrilled to have Marvic back home,” says Alan Montanaro, Teatru Manoel’s artistic director. “Her international experience brings a fresh energy to our local opera scene. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Maltese audiences to enjoy world-class opera in their own backyard.”

The Manoel Theatre, a gem of Baroque architecture, provides the perfect setting for this cultural extravaganza. Built in 1731, it’s one of Europe’s oldest working theatres and a testament to Malta’s rich cultural heritage.

So, mark your calendars for this Saturday, 25th February. Whether you’re an opera aficionado or a curious first-timer, ‘Opera in the Capital’ promises a night of unforgettable music and a chance to cheer on one of Malta’s brightest stars.
