Sarah Bonnici’s Visual Album: A Multimedia Masterpiece at the Manoel Theatre
Malta’s creative scene is abuzz with anticipation as local songstress Sarah Bonnici prepares to unveil her visual album, ‘The Art of Letting Go’, at the prestigious Manoel Theatre. This isn’t just a concert; it’s a multimedia experience that promises to captivate audiences and redefine the local music scene.
From Studio to Stage
Bonnici, a seasoned performer known for her soulful voice and powerful lyrics, has been working tirelessly on her visual album. Recorded at St. Francis Studios in Msida, the album is a labour of love that combines music, poetry, and visual art. The Manoel Theatre, a historic gem in Valletta’s Republic Street, will provide the perfect backdrop for this unique fusion of art forms.
“The Manoel Theatre is an iconic venue,” Bonnici explains, “Its rich history and architectural beauty will add another layer to the storytelling. I want the audience to feel immersed in the narrative, to experience the emotions behind each song.”
A Visual Feast
The visual album will be projected onto a screen behind the band, creating a mesmerising backdrop that complements each song. Local artist and director, Stephen Oliver, has worked closely with Bonnici to bring her vision to life. “It’s been a fascinating process,” Oliver says, “Sarah’s music is so evocative, it lends itself perfectly to visual storytelling.”
The screening will also feature live performances from some of Malta’s most talented musicians, including guitarist David Cassar, bassist Joe Debattista, and drummer Matthew James Sixsmith. Together, they’ll bring Bonnici’s heartfelt lyrics and powerful melodies to life.
But this isn’t just a show for music lovers. Art enthusiasts will also find much to appreciate. Each song is accompanied by a unique visual narrative, created by a collective of local artists. From animation to abstract art, the visuals promise to be as captivating as the music itself.
Tickets and Details
The visual album screening will take place on Saturday, 18th March at 8 pm. Tickets are €20 and can be purchased online at Teatru Manoel’s website or at the box office. The event is expected to sell out, so early booking is advised.
For those who can’t make it, don’t despair. Bonnici plans to release the visual album online later in the year. “I want as many people as possible to experience this,” she says, “Music is about connection, and this project has been all about bringing people together.”
