The Floriana Local Council, in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, has embarked on a project to transform this 1.5-hectare plot into a public park. The aim? To create a green lung in the heart of Floriana, a space where residents and visitors alike can relax, play, and connect with nature.

But Pinetum’s potential doesn’t stop at being a beautiful green space. It’s also a piece of Floriana’s history. The site was once part of the Grandmaster’s gardens, and its name, derived from the Latin ‘pinetum’, refers to the pine trees that have dominated the scene for centuries. By opening Pinetum to the public, we’re not just creating a park; we’re unlocking a piece of Floriana’s past.
