Gozo Museum Unveils Massive History Book

Unrolling History: Gozo Museum’s Colossal Book Unveiled

Imagine a book so large, it’s five metres long and weighs as much as a grown man. This isn’t a fantasy tale, but a reality unfolding at the Gozo Museum of Archaeology. The museum has just published a tome that’s not just big, but also a labour of love, meticulously detailing the island’s rich history.

From Stone Age to Present Day

The book, titled ‘Gozo: A Journey Through Time’, is a comprehensive exploration of Gozo’s past, from the Stone Age to the present day. It’s a mammoth task, quite literally, that took five years to complete. The museum’s director, Dr. Anthony Pace, describes it as “a testament to our island’s resilience and evolution.”

Spanning over 500 pages, the book is a visual feast, filled with maps, photographs, and illustrations that bring Gozo’s history to life. It’s a must-read for locals and tourists alike, offering insights into the island’s ancient temples, its role in the Knights’ era, and its transformation into the vibrant community it is today.

Local Pride and Global Recognition

The book’s launch has sparked pride and excitement among Gozitans. “It’s about time we had a book that truly captures our history,” says Maria, a local resident. The museum hopes the book will also attract more visitors to the island. “We want people to come and experience Gozo’s history firsthand,” says Dr. Pace.

The book is available for purchase at the Gozo Museum of Archaeology and selected bookstores in Malta and Gozo. It’s also available online, ensuring that Gozo’s story reaches a global audience.
