Local Hero Turns Ġnejna Cave into Lifesaving Billboard

Local Hero: Watersports Owner Uses Ġnejna Cave for Lifesaving Ads

Imagine this: you’re out at sea, your boat’s engine has conked out, and you’re stranded. Your phone signal is patchy, and you’re not sure if anyone can hear your cries for help. Now, imagine seeing a sign of hope etched onto the face of Ġnejna Cave, telling you exactly what to do. This isn’t a fantasy; it’s a reality thanks to local watersports owner, Mark Attard.

Mark’s Inspiration and Action

Mark, owner of Sea Adventures Malta, was inspired to act after hearing about a family who got lost at sea near Ġnejna. “I thought, what if there was a way to guide people towards safety, even when they’re out of phone signal range?” he said. So, he grabbed his paint and a ladder, and climbed up to the cave’s entrance to affix his makeshift ad.

Ġnejna Cave: A Beacon of Hope

Ġnejna Cave, located in the southwest of Malta, is a popular spot for watersports enthusiasts and a well-known landmark for boaters. Mark’s ad, visible from the sea, provides clear instructions on what to do if you’re stranded: “Signal for help, stay calm, and wait for rescue.” It’s a simple yet powerful message that could save lives.

Mark’s initiative has sparked interest and praise from the local community and even the Marine Police, who have shown support for his idea. “We think it’s a great initiative,” said a spokesperson. “Anything that can help guide people towards safety is a positive step.”

Mark’s ad is just the beginning. He’s planning to expand his ‘lifesaving ads’ to other popular watersports spots around Malta. “If we can save just one life, it’ll all be worth it,” he said.
