PN Demands: Publish KM Malta’s Financials
PN Demands Transparency: ‘Publish KM Malta’s Financials, Government’
Imagine this: you’re walking down Republic Street, Malta’s bustling thoroughfare, and you spot a ‘For Sale’ sign outside the iconic Grandmaster’s Palace. You’d think, “What’s going on here?” Well, that’s the kind of transparency the Nationalist Party (PN) is pushing for, but with the government’s finances, not the historic palace.
KM Malta: The Enigma
KM Malta, the government’s investment arm, has been a bit of a mystery. It’s been doling out millions in investments, but the public’s been left in the dark about how these funds are being managed. The PN wants to change that. They’re calling for the government to publish KM Malta’s financial statements, arguing that the public has a right to know how their money is being spent.
PN’s Push for Transparency
The PN isn’t just asking nicely. They’ve submitted a parliamentary question, demanding that the government reveal KM Malta’s financials. MP Beppe Fenech Adami led the charge, stating, “The public deserves to know how their money is being invested.” He’s not wrong. After all, it’s our taxes funding these investments.
But the government’s been tight-lipped. Finance Minister Clyde Caruana has been vague, saying only that the financials will be published “in due course.” That’s not good enough, argues the PN. They want specifics, and they want them now.
So, what’s the hold-up? Is the government hiding something? Or are they just being cautious with our money? . But one thing’s for sure: the PN’s not going to let this go. They’re determined to get to the bottom of this, no matter how long it takes.
