The Malta Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) swiftly responded to the incident, deploying three tenders and a rescue vehicle to the scene. The fire was eventually brought under control after around 45 minutes, with the truck left a smoldering wreck.

No injuries were reported, but the driver of the truck was understandably shaken. “I’ve never experienced anything like this,” he told Hot Malta. “One moment I was driving, the next, the dashboard was on fire. I managed to pull over and get out just in time.”

Cause of the Fire
