Delicata’s Wine Festival Returns to Mdina in August

As the sun begins to set over the historic city of Mdina, painting the ancient walls in hues of gold and orange, a familiar buzz starts to fill the air. The clinking of glasses, the hum of chatter, and the unmistakable aroma of grapes wafting through the air signal the return of a beloved Maltese tradition – Delicata’s wine festival.

Wine Lovers’ Paradise

From August 12th to 15th, the grand courtyard of the Vilhena Palace in Mdina will once again transform into a wine lover’s paradise. This year marks the 22nd edition of Delicata’s wine festival, a four-day celebration that has become a staple in Malta’s cultural calendar.

Sip Your Way Through Maltese History

Delicata, one of Malta’s leading wine producers, invites you to explore the rich history of Maltese wine through a carefully curated selection of over 100 local and international wines. From the crisp whites of Marsovin to the strong reds of Meridiana, each sip tells a story of Malta’s vinicultural heritage.

But this festival is more than just a tasting event. It’s a journey through Maltese culture, history, and tradition. As you wander through the courtyard, you’ll be serenaded by local musicians, treated to traditional Maltese food, and even have the chance to learn about the wine-making process from the experts themselves.

More Than Just Wine

While the wine is the star of the show, there’s plenty more to enjoy at this year’s festival. The ‘Wine & Dine’ area will feature some of Malta’s top restaurants, offering a tantalizing selection of local dishes to pair with your wine. And for those who want to learn more about the art of wine-making, there will be a series of workshops and tastings led by Delicata’s expert sommeliers.

But perhaps the most exciting addition to this year’s festival is the ‘Wine & Art’ exhibition. In collaboration with the Mdina Local Council, Delicata will be transforming the palace’s grand halls into a gallery space, showcasing the work of local artists inspired by the theme of wine.

So, whether you’re a seasoned oenophile or a curious newcomer to the world of wine, there’s something for everyone at Delicata’s wine festival. It’s more than just an event – it’s a celebration of Malta’s rich history, vibrant culture, and, of course, our love affair with the humble grape.
