MĠARR’S NEW ROAD SIGNS STOLEN WITHIN 24 HOURS

MĠARR’S NEW ROAD SIGNS: A SHORT LIFE CUT SHORT

Just 24 hours after they were installed, the new road signs in Mġarr have vanished. Not misplaced, not moved by accident, but stolen. And the local council is not happy.

THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING SIGNS

On Tuesday, the Mġarr Local Council invested in new road signs, aiming to improve traffic flow and safety in the bustling town. By Wednesday, they were gone. Stolen, according to the council’s statement, leaving behind a trail of confusion and frustration.

CCTV footage is being reviewed, but so far, no leads. The signs, which included directional arrows and street names, were installed along Triq San Ġorġ Preca and Triq l-Imqabba. Locals are left wondering who would do this and why.

REACTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY

Reactions from Mġarr residents have been swift and passionate. “It’s like someone came and stole a piece of our town,” said Joe, a long-time resident. “These signs were meant to make things better, and now they’re gone. It’s ridiculous,” he added.

Others have taken to social media, expressing their frustration. “Whoever did this, they’re not just stealing signs, they’re stealing from our community,” said Maria, a local business owner.

THE COUNCIL’S RESPONSE

The Mġarr Local Council has condemned the act, stating that it is “an attack on the community and its efforts to improve.” They have promised to replace the signs as soon as possible and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

“We won’t let this deter us,” said the council’s spokesperson. “We’re here to serve the community, and we won’t let mindless vandalism stop us from doing that.”

In the meantime, residents are left with a mystery. Who took the signs, and why? And more importantly, will they stay gone this time?
