The driver who captured the footage on their dashcam managed to avoid the falling debris by braking just in time. “I’ve never been so scared in my life,” they told Hot Malta. “One second, I was driving along, and the next, the scaffolding was coming down right in front of me.”

The incident has sparked an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA). They are looking into the cause of the collapse and whether any safety regulations were breached. The construction company involved has declined to comment while the investigation is ongoing.
