The new routes, dubbed ‘MaltaMóve 2.0’, introduce several modifications, including:
- Extended hours for night buses, now running until 2 AM on weekends.
- New routes connecting rural areas to major hubs, such as the X3 from Żebbuġ to Valletta via Msida.
- Revised schedules for peak hours, aiming to reduce wait times and overcrowding.
Reactions from Commuters
Reactions from commuters have been mixed. While some welcome the extended night bus service, others are grappling with longer wait times due to route realignments. “I’ve been waiting for 20 minutes, and my bus hasn’t even passed yet,” grumbled Joe, a regular commuter from Birkirkara. “But at least I can get home later on weekends,” he added, seeing a silver lining.
