Rider Down: Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After St. Julian’s Fall

Emergency services rushed to Triq San Giljan, St. Julian’s, late Tuesday evening following reports of a motorcyclist lying injured on the road. The rider, a 32-year-old local man, was found unresponsive and in critical condition after falling off his motorcycle. He was immediately transported to Mater Dei Hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit.

Witnesses Describe the Scene

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with the motorcyclist lying on the road, his bike several feet away. “I heard the screech of brakes and then a loud thud,” said one witness who wished to remain anonymous. “When I looked out, I saw the biker on the ground. It was terrifying.”

Road Safety Concerns in St. Julian’s

This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in the bustling St. Julian’s area. Known for its busy streets and heavy traffic, the region has seen an increase in road accidents involving motorcyclists. “We’ve been calling for stricter enforcement and better road infrastructure,” said a spokesperson for the Malta Road Safety Council. “We hope this incident serves as a wake-up call.”

St. Julian’s Police Station has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. “We’re appealing to anyone who might have seen something or has dashcam footage to contact us,” said a police spokesperson.

In the meantime, the motorcycling community has rallied around the injured rider, with many expressing their support on social media. “Our thoughts are with him and his family,” said a fellow biker. “We’re all in this together, and we need to make sure we’re looking out for each other.”
