Here, officials are finalising plans to send €140,000 in aid to Venezuela, following the catastrophic earthquakes that have left the South American nation reeling.
Malta’s Connection to Venezuela
Malta’s ties with Venezuela run deep. Thousands of Maltese citizens call Venezuela home, and countless more have family and friends there. The island nation has always been quick to lend a helping hand, and this time is no different. “We stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela during these challenging times,” said Evarist Bartolo, Malta’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion.
Assistance on the Ground
The €140,000 will be channeled through the Maltese Red Cross, which has been working tirelessly to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance. The funds will go towards essential supplies like food, water, and medical aid, as well as temporary shelter for those left homeless by the earthquakes.
Malta’s contribution is part of a broader international response.
