Join Malta Police: Applications Open for New Constables

Ever Dreamt of Protecting Malta’s Streets?

Imagine the sun setting over the Grand Harbour, the historic Three Cities silhouetted against the orange sky. Now, picture yourself, not just admiring this view, but safeguarding it. This could be your reality if you join the Malta Police Force. Applications for new constables are now open, and we’ve got all the info you need to know.

Why Join the Malta Police?

Malta’s a small island, but that doesn’t mean our police force is small in spirit. We’re talking about a force that’s as diverse as our island’s culture, with over 2,000 officers serving our communities. From patrolling the bustling streets of Valletta to keeping our coastal towns safe, no two days are the same. Plus, you’ll be part of a team that’s constantly evolving, embracing new technologies and training methods to better serve Malta.

But it’s not all about the job. As a police officer, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s helping a tourist find their way in Paceville or assisting an elderly person in Birkirkara, every interaction matters. And let’s not forget the camaraderie. The bond you’ll share with your colleagues, the support you’ll give each other, it’s something special.

What Does It Take?

First things first, you’ve got to be a Maltese citizen or have the right to live and work in Malta. You should also be between 18 and 30 years old (with some exceptions). But age and nationality aside, what really matters is your character. We’re looking for individuals who are honest, reliable, and committed to serving the community. You should also be physically fit, as the job can be demanding.

As for qualifications, you’ll need at least five passes at SEC/O-Level or equivalent, including Math, English, and a Science subject. But it’s not just about academic achievements. We’re interested in your life skills, your experiences, and your passion for making Malta a safer place.

What’s the Recruitment Process Like?

The recruitment process is designed to assess your physical fitness, mental aptitude, and personal qualities. It’s rigorous, but it’s also fair. Here’s what you can expect:

    • Online Application: Kickstart your journey by filling out the online application form. Make sure to include all relevant information and experiences.
    • Written Test: If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to sit a written test. This will assess your knowledge, comprehension, and logical reasoning skills.
    • Physical Fitness Test: You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test to ensure you’re up to the demands of the job. This includes a 2.4km run, push-ups, and a timed obstacle course.
    • Interview: If you’ve made it this far, you’ll be invited for an interview. This is your chance to show us why you’d make a great police officer. We’ll be looking at your communication skills, your motivation, and your suitability for the role.

If you’re successful at each stage, you’ll be invited to join the Police Training School for a 13-week training program. Here, you’ll learn everything you need to know to become a fully-fledged police officer.
