Malta’s Flag Design Contest: Your Chance to See Your Art Fly

A Call to Colours: Local Radio Station Launches Flag Design Contest

Picture this: you’re walking down Republic Street, the sun is shining, and suddenly, you spot your very own design waving proudly from a balcony. This isn’t a dream, but a reality that local radio station, Radio Malta, is making possible with their latest initiative.

From Sketch to Reality: The Flag Design Contest

Radio Malta has thrown open its doors to creativity with a flag design contest that’s got the whole island buzzing. The station is inviting locals, from seasoned designers to budding artists, to submit their designs for a chance to see their flag flying high across Malta.

The contest, titled “X’Sejja’ l-Flagħa“, is open to everyone, regardless of age or experience. The only rule? The design must reflect Malta’s culture, heritage, or values. “We want to see what Malta means to you,” says Mark Spiteri, Radio Malta’s Programme Director. “It could be anything from our traditional lace to the unique Maltese sense of humour.”

From Design to Fabric: The Winning Flag

The winning design will not only be immortalised as a digital image but will also be printed on actual fabric and flown from selected locations across Malta. “We want to make Malta a canvas for creativity,” Spiteri adds. “Imagine seeing your design fluttering in the breeze at places like the Grandmaster’s Palace or the Triton Fountain.”

The judging panel, comprising local artists, designers, and Radio Malta personalities, will be looking for originality, creativity, and how well the design represents Malta. The winner will also receive a cash prize and a year’s supply of Radio Malta merchandise.

How to Enter: A Step-by-Step Guide

Entering the contest is easy. Simply download the template from the Radio Malta website, let your creativity flow, and submit your design before the deadline on 31st August. You can submit as many designs as you like, increasing your chances of winning.

So, whether you’re a professional designer or a first-time artist, this is your chance to make your mark on Malta. Who knows? Your flag could be the next big thing to wave across the island.
