Triq il-Kbira, one of Santa Venera’s main thoroughfares, was cordoned off by police as emergency services rushed to the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the man fall from the third floor of a half-finished apartment block, landing heavily on the concrete below. “It happened so fast,” said one resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “One moment he was up there, the next he was lying on the ground. It’s something I’ll never forget.”

Investigation Launched

The Accident Investigation Branch (AIB) has launched an investigation into the incident. A spokesperson for the AIB confirmed that they are treating the fall as a workplace accident and will be examining the safety measures in place at the construction site. The site, owned by local developer DB Group, has been temporarily closed pending the outcome of the investigation.

DB Group has issued a statement expressing their concern for the worker’s well-being and promising full cooperation with the AIB’s investigation. “The safety of our workers is our top priority,” the statement read. “We are committed to ensuring that all our sites adhere to the highest safety standards.”

Santa Venera’s parish priest, Fr. Joseph Borg, has encouraged the community to come together in prayer for the worker’s recovery. “Let us remember him in our prayers and offer our support to his family during this challenging time,” Fr. Borg said.
