Finland & Israel Through to Eurovision Final; Malta Awaits

Eurovision Fever: Finland and Israel Sail Through to Grand Final

As the sun set over the Mediterranean, Malta’s Eurovision enthusiasts gathered in bars and living rooms last night, eyes glued to their screens. The first semi-final of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest was underway, and the island nation was on the edge of its seat. The result? Finland and Israel have secured their spots in the grand final, leaving Maltese fans both thrilled and anxious for the remaining semis.

Finland’s Triumph: A Night at the Opera

Kicking off the night was Finland’s entry, “Cha Cha Cha” by Käärijä. Dressed in a dazzling gold suit, Käärijä brought a touch of glamour to the stage, reminiscent of the opulent opera houses of Valletta’s past. His energetic performance, a blend of pop and opera, had the audience roaring with approval. The jury and public vote agreed, placing Finland fifth in the semi-final.

Israel’s Star Rises: A Tale of Two Sisters

Next up was Israel’s Noa Kirel, who captivated the audience with her powerful ballad, “Unicorn.” Dressed in a shimmering gown, Kirel’s performance at the Liverpool Arena was a far cry from the bustling markets of Malta’s Three Cities. Her emotional delivery, backed by a stunning light show, earned her a well-deserved third place in the semi-final.

Malta’s Wait Continues: to Semi-Final 2

While the results were music to Maltese ears, our own entry, “Dance (Your Name)” by The Busker, will have to wait for the second semi-final on Thursday. The Busker’s unique blend of folk and pop, inspired by the narrow streets of Mdina, has already won over local fans. As we cheer on the other contestants, we eagerly await our turn to shine on the Eurovision stage.

With the first semi-final over, the excitement is building for the remaining contests. Will Malta make it through to the grand final? . But one thing’s for sure – the Eurovision fever is alive and well in Malta!

“We’re in it to win it,” said a confident The Busker, as he prepared for his next rehearsal. “Malta’s got the talent, and we’re ready to show Europe what we’re made of.”

So, Malta, it’s time to dust off those glow sticks and get ready to cheer. The road to the Eurovision grand final is a long one, but with Finland and Israel leading the way, who knows where we might end up?
