Malta Marks Attenborough’s 100 with Fundraising Event

Malta’s Nature Lovers to Mark Attenborough’s Centennial with Fundraising Event

Imagine, if you will, the grandiosity of the Azure Window, now lost to the sea, as Sir David Attenborough himself once stood there, marvelling at Malta’s unique biosphere. This October, we celebrate the man who’s brought the wonders of our world into our living rooms, as he turns 100. And Malta’s nature enthusiasts are gearing up for a special fundraising event in his honour.

Celebrating a Lifetime of Exploration

Sir David Attenborough, the legendary broadcaster and naturalist, celebrates his centennial on May 8th, 2026. To mark this remarkable milestone, a group of Maltese environmental enthusiasts are organising a fundraising event right here in our sunny isles. The event, ‘A Night for Nature’, will take place on October 15th at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

Malta’s Natural Wonders in the Spotlight

The evening promises to be a celebration of Malta’s unique biodiversity and the man who’s inspired generations to appreciate it. Guests can expect a fascinating talk by local naturalist Dr. Joseph Caruana, who’ll look the fascinating world of Maltese flora and fauna. The evening will also feature a screening of Sir David’s most captivating moments, capturing the magic of our planet’s wildlife.

But this event isn’t just about looking back. It’s also about and ensuring that future generations can continue to marvel at the natural world. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Malta National Aquarium’s conservation efforts, supporting their work in protecting and preserving Malta’s marine ecosystems.

As Sir David himself once said, “It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.” Let’s celebrate this passion and give back to our own natural world.
