Malta Celebrates Sir David Attenborough’s 100 Years

Malta’s Green Scene: Celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s Centenary

Imagine this: the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the Maltese sky with hues of orange and pink. Now, picture Sir David Attenborough, the man who’s brought us closer to nature than anyone else, turning 100 years old. What if we could celebrate his life’s work right here in Malta? Well, we can!

On the 8th of May, the Mediterraneo Maritime Museum in Birgu will host a fundraising event in honour of Sir David’s centenary. This isn’t just any event; it’s a chance for us, as Maltese, to show our appreciation for a man who’s inspired generations to care for our planet.

Why Celebrate Sir David in Malta?

Malta, with its unique biodiversity and rich history, has always been a melting pot of cultures and species. It’s only fitting that we celebrate Sir David, a man who’s dedicated his life to exploring and protecting our natural world. Plus, who wouldn’t want to raise a glass of local wine to the man who’s brought us ‘Planet Earth’?

What to Expect at the Event

The evening will kick off with a screening of Sir David’s latest documentary, ‘A Perfect Planet’. After all, what better way to celebrate his life’s work than by immersing ourselves in the beauty of our world? Following the screening, there’ll be a Q&A session with local environmental experts, discussing Malta’s role in preserving our planet.

But it’s not all serious talk. There’ll be live music, courtesy of local band Bean Gardens, and a silent auction with unique items, including a signed copy of Sir David’s autobiography, ‘Life on Air’.

And let’s not forget the food. Expect a feast of local delicacies, from The Tavern Bistro’s traditional Maltese dishes to a special birthday cake, baked just for Sir David.

Making a Difference, One Ticket at a Time

Every ticket sold goes towards the Wildlife Conservation Society, a global leader in saving wildlife and wild places through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature. So, not only are you celebrating Sir David, but you’re also making a real difference to our planet.

So, Malta, are you ready to raise a glass to Sir David Attenborough? To celebrate a life dedicated to exploring and protecting our world? To make a difference, one ticket at a time? We hope to see you there!
