Malta Family Wins $49.5M in Boeing 737 MAX Tragedy

The Lion Air crash was the first of two disasters involving the Boeing 737 MAX. In March 2019, another MAX jet operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed, killing all 157 on board. These tragedies led to the grounding of the entire Boeing 737 MAX fleet worldwide, causing Boeing to suffer significant financial losses and damage to its reputation.

The lawsuits that followed alleged that Boeing had prioritized speed and cost savings over safety in the development of the 737 MAX. The recent jury verdict in the Halim family’s case supports these claims, finding Boeing liable for wrongful death and awarding $49.5 million in damages.
