Marsascala Man: “I Don’t Know Who Shot Me”

In the quiet, coastal town of Marsascala, a man lies in hospital, grappling with the reality that someone tried to end his life. The victim, a 35-year-old local resident, is now left with more questions than answers, the most pressing being: who pulled the trigger?

Gunshot in the Night

On a seemingly ordinary evening, the victim was walking along Triq San Niklaw, a street that runs parallel to the picturesque Marsascala Bay. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, shattering the peaceful night. The victim fell to the ground, clutching his chest, as a car sped away into the darkness. The attempted murder in broad daylight, or rather, broad moonlight, has through the usually tranquil community.

Unsure, Uncertain, Unnerved

“I don’t know who did this to me,” the victim told Hot Malta from his hospital bed, his voice barely above a whisper. “I was just walking home from a friend’s place. I didn’t see it coming.” The bullet missed his heart by mere centimeters, a fact that has left him both grateful and terrified. “I could be dead. I could have left my family, my daughter, behind. But who would want to do this to me? I’m just a regular guy, working, trying to make ends meet.”

The victim’s family has been left equally bewildered. “We can’t understand why anyone would want to harm our son,” his mother told Hot Malta, her eyes welling up with tears. “He’s a good boy, always has been. He’s never been in trouble with the law, never had any enemies that we know of.”

Police Investigation

The Malta Police Force has launched an investigation into the attempted murder. Superintendent Joseph Cuschieri, leading the investigation, told Hot Malta, “We are treating this as a serious crime. We have several leads we’re following, but we’re appealing to the public for any information that could help us solve this case.”

CCTV footage from nearby homes and businesses is being scrutinized, and witnesses are being interviewed. However, as of now, no arrests have been made, and the victim remains unsure of his assailant’s identity.

As the investigation continues, the victim’s family is left in a state of limbo, hoping for answers and praying for their son’s swift recovery. “We just want to know why,” the victim’s father said. “Why would someone try to take our son away from us?”

In the meantime, the attempted murder in Marsascala serves as a stark reminder that violence can strike anywhere, anytime, shattering lives and leaving families with more questions than answers.
