Aidan Ready to Make Malta Proud at Eurovision

Aidan, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Msida, has always been passionate about music. His love for it started in his childhood home, where he’d sing along to his parents’ vinyl records. Fast forward to 2022, and Aidan has just won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with his captivating performance of ‘I Am What I Am’. His victory has catapulted him onto the global stage, as he prepares to represent Malta in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy.

“I still can’t believe it,” Aidan admits, a smile spreading across his face. “From performing in small venues around Malta to now, it’s been an incredible journey. I’m just so grateful for the opportunity to make my country proud.”

Malta has been a part of the Eurovision family since 1971, with mixed fortunes over the years. While we’ve had our fair share of top-10 finishes, a win has remained elusive. Aidan, however, is confident that this could be our year.

“It’s incredible to see how united we are as a nation,” Aidan says. “I’m not just representing myself in Turin; I’m representing every single person who’s cheering me on, who believes in me. That’s a responsibility I take very seriously.”

Back in Msida, Aidan’s family and friends are equally excited. “We’re so proud of him,” says Aidan’s mother, Maria. “He’s worked so hard for this, and we know he’ll do us proud.”
