Man Arrested After Metal Bar Attack in Msida

In the quiet, tree-lined streets of Msida, a metal bar attack has left a man arrested and a community on edge. The incident, which took place outside a block of flats on Triq San Pawl, has through the usually peaceful neighborhood.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was reportedly attacked by his former housemate, a 32-year-old man, outside their former residence. The alleged assailant is said to have used a metal bar in the assault, which left the victim with serious injuries. Neighbors, hearing the commotion, rushed out and managed to restrain the suspect until police arrived.

“I heard shouting and then a loud bang,” said a shaken neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “I looked out and saw the man on the ground, bleeding. The other man was standing over him with a metal bar in his hand.”

Police were quickly on the scene, arresting the suspect and taking him into custody. The victim was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. The police have since launched an investigation into the incident, with reports suggesting that the attack may have been motivated by a long-standing dispute between the two men.

Superintendent Keith Mercieca, leading the investigation, stated, “We are treating this as a serious incident. We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen something to come forward.”
