Newark School’s Open Day: A Sliema Community Celebration

Sliema’s Newark School Welcomes the Community: Open Day, Open Doors, Open Minds

As the sun began to set over Sliema’s bustling streets on Friday, June 5, something extraordinary was happening at the heart of the town. Newark School, a beacon of education in the Maltese islands, was throwing open its doors to the community, inviting everyone to step inside, explore, and engage. The annual open day was back, and it was bigger and better than ever.

More Than Just a School Tour

This wasn’t your average school tour. Newark School’s open day was a celebration of learning, a showcase of the institution’s unique approach to education, and an opportunity for the community to connect with the school and its students. From the moment you stepped through the historic gates at 123, Tower Road, Sliema, you were immersed in an atmosphere of curiosity, creativity, and camaraderie.

Classrooms Come to Life

Each classroom was a hive of activity, transformed into a mini-exhibition of the students’ work. From the youngest learners in Kindergarten, who delighted visitors with their colourful artwork and imaginative storytelling, to the senior students presenting their advanced projects in science, technology, and the arts, every corner of the school was alive with pride and potential.

In the science lab, students demonstrated their understanding of chemistry with a captivating experiment, while in the art studio, they showcased their skills with a live painting session. The school’s state-of-the-art technology suite was a hub of activity, with students eager to share their digital creations and explain the latest coding techniques they’ve mastered.

Open Questions, Open Minds

But the open day was about more than just showing off. It was an opportunity for the community to ask questions, engage in dialogue, and understand the school’s vision for the future of education. Parents, teachers, and students came together to discuss everything from the school’s innovative curriculum to its commitment to sustainability and community service.

Principal Mr. Joseph Borg was on hand to answer questions and share his passion for Newark School’s unique approach to education. “We believe in nurturing the whole child,” he explained. “That means not just focusing on academic achievement, but also on developing creativity, critical thinking, and a sense of social responsibility.”

As the sun set on another successful open day, the community left Newark School with a renewed sense of pride and purpose. They had seen firsthand the incredible things happening within its walls, and they were eager to support and engage with the school in the future.

As for the students, they were already to next year’s open day, eager to build on the success of this year’s event and make it even bigger and better. After all, at Newark School, every day is a chance to learn, grow, and make a difference.
