In the quiet, tree-lined streets of Msida, a grim shadow has fallen. A man, known to the victim, has been remanded in custody following his arrest for allegedly committing a violent sexual assault on his former partner.
Arrest and Charges
The 32-year-old suspect was apprehended by police on Tuesday, following a report made by the 27-year-old victim. The incident is alleged to have occurred in the victim’s Msida apartment, with the woman claiming that she was sexually assaulted and physically injured by her former partner.
The man, a resident of Birkirkara, was charged with rape, causing actual bodily harm, and criminal damage. He was remanded in custody by Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech, with the court citing the risk of the suspect reoffending and interfering with witnesses.
