Lidl Malta Recall: Check Your Kitchen Now!

Lidl Malta Recall: Act Now, These Items Might Be in Your Kitchen

Imagine this: you’re in your kitchen in Msida, reaching for that packet of Lidl’s popular ‘Savory Bake’ mini quiches. You’ve had them before, they’re a quick fix for lunch. But hold on, you might want to double-check that packet. Why? Because Lidl Malta has just issued a recall for these and other products due to a potential food safety risk.

What’s the Fuss About?

The Food Safety Authority (FSA) has warned of a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes in certain Lidl products. Listeria, a type of bacteria, can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Lidl Malta has taken swift action, recalling the following products from their stores:

    • Savory Bake Mini Quiches (Pack of 12) – Use By: 25/03/2023
    • Savory Bake Mini Quiches (Pack of 24) – Use By: 25/03/2023
    • Savory Bake Spinach & Feta Mini Quiches (Pack of 12) – Use By: 25/03/2023

What Should You Do?

If you’ve bought any of these products, don’t consume them. Instead, return them to your nearest Lidl store for a full refund. No receipt is required. Alternatively, you can dispose of them or contact Lidl’s customer service line on 2122 2222.

Lidl Malta has assured customers that they are working closely with the FSA to ensure the safety of their products. They’ve also emphasized that this recall is a precautionary measure and that no other Lidl products are affected.

About Listeria

Listeria can cause a range of symptoms, from mild ones like fever and muscle aches to more severe ones like meningitis and septicemia. If you suspect you’ve eaten contaminated food and are experiencing these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

To stay safe, always follow good hygiene practices when handling food. That means washing your hands, cooking food thoroughly, and storing leftovers properly.
