Teen’s Face Slashed in Paceville Brawl: Witness Questioned
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the usually bustling streets of Paceville fell silent as an ambulance rushed to the scene of a brutal brawl that left a 19-year-old with a deep slash across his face. The victim, a local resident, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. As the sun rose over the Mediterranean, so did the questions: What sparked this violent incident? And who was responsible?
Paceville: A Night Out Gone Wrong
Paceville, Malta’s entertainment hub, is no stranger to late-night altercations. But this incident, occurring outside the popular club ‘Tiffany’s’, has left residents and club-goers alike shaken. “I’ve seen fights before, but never anything like this,” said a nearby bar owner, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s usually just drunken stupidity. This was something else.”
CCTV footage, obtained by Hot Malta, shows a group of individuals engaged in a heated argument before the situation escalated into a full-blown brawl. A glint of metal is seen just moments before the victim clutches his face, blood pouring through his fingers.
Witness Questioned, Suspect at Large
Police have since questioned a witness who was reportedly seen arguing with the victim moments before the attack. However, the suspect, a 22-year-old man from Birkirkara, has not been charged and was released pending further investigations. Sources close to the case suggest that the argument may have stemmed from a long-standing feud between the two individuals.
Superintendent Joseph Mercieca, leading the investigation, urged anyone with information to come forward. “We are treating this as a serious assault. We need the public’s help to bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
Community Calls for Tougher Action
News of the incident has sparked outrage among Paceville residents and club-goers. Many have taken to social media to call for tougher action against violence in the area. “We’ve had enough,” said Maria, a long-time resident. “It’s time our politicians took a stand and made Paceville safe again.”
Hot Malta reached out to the Tourism Authority for comment, but they declined to respond, citing the ongoing investigation.
