Lidl Malta Recall: Check Your Cupboards Now
Lidl Malta Recall: Act Now, Check Your Cupboards
Imagine this: you’re in the bustling streets of Republic Street, Malta, rushing to grab a quick lunch from your local Lidl. You pick up a packet of their popular ‘Lidl Basic’ minced beef, thinking nothing of it. But hold on, you might want to double-check that packet.
In an unexpected turn, the Food Safety Authority (FSA) has issued a warning about a potential contamination risk in a batch of Lidl’s minced beef. The supermarket giant has swiftly recalled the product, but it’s crucial to know which packets to look out for.
What’s the Issue?
The FSA has identified a possible health risk due to the presence of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in a batch of ‘Lidl Basic’ minced beef with the best-before date of 28/02/2023. This bacteria, while naturally present in the gut, can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), and vomiting.
While Lidl Malta has acted swiftly to remove the affected batches from their stores, it’s essential to ensure that you’re not still in possession of any potentially contaminated packets.
Which Packets to Check?
Lidl has identified the affected batch as ‘Lidl Basic’ minced beef with the following details:
- Pack size: 500g
- Best-before date: 28/02/2023
- Batch code: L2129510383000
If you have any of these packets at home, do not consume them. Instead, return them to your nearest Lidl store for a full refund.
Lidl Malta has assured customers that they take food safety extremely seriously and have implemented strong measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
