Lidl Malta Recall: Check Your Fridge Now
Lidl Malta Recall: Act Now, Check Your Fridge
Imagine this: you’re in the middle of preparing dinner at your St. Julian’s apartment, the aroma of fresh ingredients wafting through the air. Suddenly, you remember that packet of Lidl’s ‘Savory Bites’ you picked up earlier. You might want to pause, double-check that packet, because it’s part of a recall that’s got the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) and the Food Safety Authority (FSA) on high alert.
The Recall: Lidl’s ‘Savory Bites’ Under Scrutiny
Lidl Malta has issued a voluntary recall of its ‘Savory Bites’ range, specifically the ‘Pepperoni Pizza’ and ‘Four Cheese’ flavors. The FSA has warned of a potential contamination risk, with the possibility of plastic pieces found in the products. Yikes!
The affected products have a ‘Best Before’ date of 31/12/2022. If you’ve got any of these packets lurking in your fridge, it’s time to dig them out and return them to your nearest Lidl store for a full refund. No receipt? No problem, Lidl will still refund you.
What Happens Next? The Investigation Continues
The recall follows an investigation by the MCCAA and FSA, who received reports of foreign bodies found in the products. Lidl, in cooperation with the authorities, has traced the issue back to a packaging fault at the supplier’s factory. The supplier, in turn, has halted production and is working with Lidl to ensure no more contaminated products make it to our shelves.
While Lidl assures customers that no other products are affected, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. If you’re unsure about any product, don’t hesitate to contact Lidl’s customer service line on 21458000 or email customerservice@lidl.com.mt.
Let’s keep our eyes peeled, Malta. It’s our collective responsibility to ensure our food is safe. After all, we deserve nothing less than the best for our tables.
