Malta Voting Document: How to Collect It
Voting Document MIA? Here’s How to Collect It in Malta
It’s election season in Malta, and you’ve checked your mailbox thrice, asked your neighbours, even checked under the sofa – but your voting document is still nowhere to be found. Don’t panic, you’re not alone. Let’s navigate this together and ensure your voice is heard.
First Things First: Check Your Eligibility
Before you start your search, make sure you’re registered to vote. If you’re a Maltese citizen or a EU citizen residing in Malta, you should be good to go. If you’re still unsure, visit the Electoral Commission’s website to confirm your registration.
Lost, Stolen, or Never Received? Here’s What to Do
If you’ve confirmed your eligibility and your voting document is still MIA, it’s time to take action. Here are your options:
Contact the Electoral Commission
The Electoral Commission is your first port of call. They can check if your document has been issued and, if so, whether it’s been marked as delivered. Give them a call on 153 or send an email to info.electoral@gov.mt. They’re open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Visit the District Electoral Office
If you prefer a face-to-face approach, visit your local District Electoral Office. There are five offices across Malta, located in Birkirkara, Floriana, Gozo, Paola, and Victoria. They’re open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
For instance, if you live in the Three Cities area, you’d head to the Paola office at Triq il-Kbira, Paola. Make sure to bring along your ID card for identification purposes.
Collect Your Document at the Polling Station
If you’re running out of time, you can collect your voting document at your designated polling station on election day. However, this option is only available on the day of the election, so plan accordingly.
What If Your Document Was Stolen?
If you suspect your voting document has been stolen, report it to the police immediately. They can issue you a replacement document, which you can collect from your local District Electoral Office.
Don’t Let This Stop You
Losing your voting document can be frustrating, but it’s important not to let it deter you from voting. Your voice matters, and it’s crucial to exercise your democratic right. So, roll up your sleeves, get on that phone, or head out to your local office, and let’s get you that voting document!
Remember, the next election is just around the corner. Stay informed, stay engaged, and most importantly, stay voting!
