Malta’s Zach Vella Completes Epic London-Malta Run for Homeless
Malta’s Zach Vella: From London Streets to Our Shores, Running for a Cause
Imagine pounding the pavement for 1,500 miles, not for a medal or a personal best, but to raise awareness and funds for Malta’s homeless. That’s exactly what local hero Zach Vella has accomplished, touching down in his beloved hometown after an epic 57-day run from London to Malta.
From London to Valletta: A Journey of Endurance
Zach’s journey began on April 12th, at the iconic Tower Bridge in London. With a backpack filled with essentials and a heart full of determination, he set off, averaging an astonishing 26 miles a day. He traversed through France, Switzerland, Italy, and finally, across the Mediterranean to his homeland.
His route took him through picturesque landscapes and bustling cities, but it was the people he met along the way that truly inspired him. “Every person I met, every story I heard, fueled my desire to keep going,” Zach shared, reflecting on his journey.
Malta’s Warm Welcome and a Cause Close to Home
On June 7th, Zach was greeted by cheering crowds at the finish line in Valletta’s City Gate. The sight of the iconic Ġieħ ir-Rih, the national flag, fluttering in the breeze, must have been a poignant moment for the seasoned runner.
But Zach’s run was about more than just personal achievement. He ran to raise awareness and funds for Malta’s homeless, a cause close to his heart. “I’ve seen firsthand the struggles of those living on the streets. I wanted to do something, anything, to help,” he said.
His efforts have not gone unnoticed. Local NGOs like Dar Merħba Biss and St. Vincent de Paul have reached out, expressing their gratitude for the attention Zach’s run has brought to the issue. “Zach’s run is a testament to the power of human endurance and compassion,” said a spokesperson for Dar Merħba Biss.

Zach’s final words? “This run was about more than just me. It was about every person who’s ever struggled, every person who’s ever felt alone. It’s about community, it’s about love, and it’s about never giving up.”
