Malta Election: Don’t Let a Missing Voting Doc Stop You

Voting Document MIA? Here’s Your Malta Election Rescue Plan

Imagine this: it’s election day in Malta, you’re all set to cast your vote, but you reach into your letterbox and… nothing. No voting document. Panic sets in. But hold on, don’t let that dampen your democratic spirit. Here’s your step-by-step guide to getting your voting document and making your voice heard.

First Things First: Check Your Details

Before you start your mission, double-check your details. Log into the Electoral Commission’s website and ensure your address and other information are correct. If there’s an error, contact them immediately.

Lost, Stolen, or Never Received?

If your document is lost or stolen, or you never received it, don’t worry. You can still vote. Here’s how:

Option 1: Collect from Your District Office

Head to your district electoral office. In Malta, that could be the Birkirkara District Office in Triq il-Kbira, or the Sliema District Office in Triq San Giljan. Bring your ID card and a recent utility bill showing your address. They’ll issue you a new document on the spot.

Option 2: Collect from the Returning Officer

If it’s election day and you can’t make it to the district office, you can still vote. Go to your local returning officer’s office. In Malta, that could be the Returning Officer’s Office in Floriana. They’ll issue you a voting document between 7 am and 10 pm on election day.

What If You’re Abroad?

If you’re a Maltese citizen abroad, you can still vote. Contact the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. They’ll guide you on how to vote from overseas.

Remember, voting is your right and your responsibility. Don’t let a missing document stop you from making your voice heard. Now go forth and vote, Malta!
