Wave of Change Launches New Campaign at Xrobb l-Għaġin

Waves of Change: A Green Tide Set to Make Waves in Xrobb l-Għaġin

Picture this: the sun dipping low over the Mediterranean, casting a golden glow on the rugged cliffs of Xrobb l-Għaġin. This weekend, the tranquil scene will be punctuated by a different kind of wave – one of change, as environmental activists gather to launch a new campaign.

From the Sea to the Streets

Wave of Change, a local initiative dedicated to cleaning up Malta’s beaches and raising awareness about marine pollution, is set to make a splash this Saturday. The campaign, which has seen volunteers collect over 10,000 kilos of waste since its inception, is now turning its gaze towards Xrobb l-Għaġin.

“Xrobb l-Għaġin is a jewel in Malta’s coastal crown,” says campaign coordinator, Matthew Attard. “But like many of our beaches, it’s under threat from litter and pollution. We’re here to change that.”

More Than Just a Clean-Up

While the main event is a beach clean-up, Wave of Change is about more than just picking up litter. The campaign is also launching a new educational initiative, ‘Trash Talk’, aimed at schools and local communities.

“Trash Talk is about engaging people, especially young people, with the issue of marine pollution,” explains Attard. “We want to empower them to be part of the solution, not the problem.”

The campaign will also be unveiling a new piece of street art, created by local artist, Justin Falzon, which will serve as a permanent reminder of the campaign’s message.

Join the Wave

Whether you’re a seasoned environmental activist or just someone who cares about keeping Malta’s beaches clean, all are welcome to join the Wave of Change this Saturday. The event kicks off at 9 am at Xrobb l-Għaġin, with all necessary equipment provided.

So, grab your gloves and get ready to make a splash. Because together, we can turn the tide on marine pollution, one wave at a time.
