Alex Borg: A People-Centric Vision for a PN Government

Imagine this: the bustling streets of Valletta, the capital’s heart beating with life. Among the crowd, Alex Borg, Nationalist Party (PN) candidate for the 6th District, is not just another politician. He’s a man on a mission, stopping to chat with vendors at Is-Suq Tal-Belt, listening to their stories, their struggles, their hopes. This is not a mere campaign tactic; it’s a promise of a government that puts people at the core of its politics.

From the Streets of Valletta to Castille Square

Alex Borg is no stranger to the streets of Malta. Born and bred in Msida, he’s seen the island transform over the years. From his early days as a youth activist to his current role as PN’s spokesperson on education, Borg has always been a voice for the people. Now, he’s ready to take that voice to Castille Square, the seat of Malta’s government.

“I’ve always believed that politics should be about people, not about power,” Borg tells Hot Malta. “I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made in Castille can affect people’s lives in Msida, in Żabbar, in Gozo. I want to ensure that those decisions are made with the people in mind, not just the party’s interests.”

Putting People at the Heart of Policy

Borg’s vision is not just rhetoric. He has a plan to make Malta’s government more responsive to its people. He proposes the creation of a ‘Citizens’ Council’, a body that would represent the views and needs of different sectors of society. This council would work alongside the government, providing input on policy decisions and ensuring that they reflect the will of the people.

“We need to move away from the top-down approach,” Borg explains. “We need to create a system where people feel they have a stake in the decisions that affect their lives. We need to listen, to engage, to empower.”

Borg also wants to make government more accessible. He proposes the establishment of ‘People’s Offices’ in strategic locations around Malta and Gozo, where citizens can go to voice their concerns, seek assistance, and engage with their government.

Education: The Key to Empowerment

For Borg, education is the key to empowering Malta’s people. He wants to see a revamp of the education system, one that focuses on preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century. This means investing in digital literacy, promoting critical thinking, and fostering creativity and innovation.

“Our education system should be a tool for social mobility,” Borg says. “It should give every child, regardless of their background, the chance to reach their full potential. It should equip them with the skills they need to navigate the world, to make informed decisions, to shape their own futures.”

Borg also wants to see more investment in vocational training and adult education. “Lifelong learning should be a reality, not just a buzzword,” he says. “We need to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, to grow, to adapt to the changing world of work.”

: A Call to Action

Borg’s vision is ambitious, but it’s also achievable. It’s a vision that puts people at the heart of politics, that empowers citizens, that listens to their voices and acts on their needs. It’s a vision that, if realized, could transform Malta into a truly people-centric democracy.

“I’m not just running for office,” Borg says. “I’m running to give voice to the people of Malta. I’m running to create a government that listens, that engages, that serves. I’m running to make Malta a better place for all of us.”

And so, as the campaign continues, as the streets of Valletta echo with the voices of candidates and voters alike, one thing is clear: Alex Borg is not just another politician. He’s a man on a mission, a mission to put people at the centre of politics. And he’s inviting all of us to join him on that mission.
